tried OPLS tonight and thought it was pretty good.
The guy who took our order also brought our food-very nice person. Hope he can found help-there is a help wanted sign outside.

We had:
Corn "Chowdah" cup $4.75-companion liked it. Filled w/ corn, some bacon, potatoes, onions. Good.

New England Clam "Chowdah" cup $4.75-I liked it. Filled w/ clams, potatoes, a slice of carrot, creamy. Good.

Steamed Maine Mussels-$12.75. You get a lot of them w/ some bread. If you want more bread just ask.

The Maine Roll Lobster Roll $16.75-comes w/ fries, coleslaw and 2 small slices of pickles. I didn't want fries and he substituted w/ a small garden salad. Lobster has some mayo and chives(maybe?)all over it.
Recommend to try once. I wouldn't get it again, but I'm not a seafood lover.

The Naked Roll Lobster Roll-$16.75-w/ fries, coleslaw and 2 small slices of pickles. This is lobster without sauce(mayo) all over it. Mayo and melted butter are put on the side. Companion liked the fries and the roll. The coleslaw he said was creamy, but not heavy-very good.

Our total was $55.75. We were bloated after all the food and hope to try more of the menu another time.

And a year-and-a-half later it is $17.75. Just tried the Naked Lobster Roll today for the first time. It's clear to me now that I far prefer the flavor and texture of Dungeness crab. This was an okay sandwich, nothing more. I absolutely loved the cole slaw. The kettle-type chips were eh. Husband craved fish and chips, so that's what he got--a totally unremarkable example. My kid's mac and cheese was really good. In summary, we were really disappointed with the place. Also, the cooks were very slooooooow. We waited for a long time for our food, as did everyone else. There was a lot of bitching and moaning among all the tables around us.

Ah, preferring the stringy, watery, flavorless Dungeness to the rich, lavish lobster ... it's true ... East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet. I guess I'll never truly be a Californian.Though cioppino was a revlation that there was SOME use for the dreaded Dungeness.

I may be working in the North Bay in 2008 and dreaming about indulging on steamers at the Napa outpost.

The lobster in my sandwich was stringy, nearly flavorless, and watery.

My friends have a winter solstice crabfest every year, so I've had some fresh Dungeness very recently, and I'm telling you it was rich, sweet, and full of flavor. Truly a thing of beauty.

Atomica, have you been to opls before? I wonder if their quality has actually declined. I was there about a month and a half ago and the roll was sublime. I also love Dungeness so it's not a crab vs lobster thing.

Atomica: FWIW, our experiences from the very beginning have been underwhelming to say the least... I've given up on them because of exactly what you had to say - inconsistency, slow service, lobster roll with nothing but what looked like scraps, slimy fish and chips.... etc. Last time we tried it was in the early part of '07.

I think we were there at the same time ... heard the owner offer to give you a green salad instead of the fries. I had on the grey fleece jacket and got my food to go. Even though it was early, I was glad to see that they had a bit of business. Turns out that the owner used to live in the same town that I grew up in - Brookline, MA. small world.

I've eaten there a couple of times and the lobster rolls are definately as good as they look. Tried other places in town, but they don't compare. Closest thing I've found to those along the Maine coast! Thanks for posting this place.

I had a cup of cam "chawdah" and a lobster roll. I think that they could put some more mayo in the lobster roll. The "chawdah" was as you would get in Maine, full of clams and not like a paste. Yummm! I would definately go back. Next time I will have a Moxie to drink and maybe a haddock sandwich. Suggestions to add to the menu. Grapenut pudding and whoopie pies. Also I might try a Seafood salad.
