So it turns out LA has a subway...

I work downtown and noticed the other day that I'm only two blocks from a redline station. Seems like a great opportunity to get some tasty bites for lunch or after work... Unfortunately, since I live on the westside, the stations aren't really in neighborhoods that I know well and the restaurants I have been to, aren't really very close to the Metro Stops.

So, I'm hoping to get together a list of easy to get to restaurants at some redline (or I guess purpleline?) stations.

The easiest way I can think of doing this is that I will respond to this post additional posts of the metro stops. Hopefully, we can post our favorite restaurants under each stop's post and get a convenient way to browse? For example under the response titled "Westlake/MacArthur Park, people might respond with posts about Langer's and other restaurants within a few blocks.

I hope that's not too confusing. If someone else has a better idea let's try to get it to work!Anyway, one way or another, this will be an interesting experiment.

I didn't notice a mention, but the downtown subway stations also have the Purple Line, direct to Koreatown. Or is that a whole nother subject?

As long as you are including other lines that connect with the Red Line you can take the Gold Line to Lake Street in Pasadena and walk 2 blocks North to Fredo's.

Some of the other members can correct me, but didn't someone recently post a Google Maps mashup showing the various metro stops and all the nearby restaurants? I think a map that includes the subways and the rapid buses would be really helpful.

Personally, I think the best chow line is the 217 bus. Downtown - Silver Lake - Los Feliz - Hollywood - a little bit of West Hollywood - and then down Fairfax.
