El Carajo in Miami

I love the sound of this place- resto within a gas station- tiny corkage fees- good food. Do I have it right? Anything to add?

  1. (1) Go - it's wonderful.
    (2) Don't miss the piquillo peppers stuffed w/ bacalao and topped w/ a squid ink sauce. One of the best tapas I have had - anywhere.
    (3) Take any wine off the shelf from the surprisingly well-stocked little wine shop and pay $10 corkage over regular retail prices.
    (4) Go.

I am already deeply in love with this place without having stepped foot in there! Thanks for the advice. I will go this weekend and report back.

It was wonderful. Thanks, Frod. We had the peppers, the shrimp in garlic sauce, the cheese plate and the paella. The wine selection was incredible.

This is a really unique restaurant... I chuckled as I pulled into the parking spot just feet from where I pumped my gas, passing through the requisite convenience store snacks of candy bars and pork rinds as my group made it to the back. The food is good, and they often have music. Opt for the gambas al ajillo and tortilla espanola. Just be careful - this place is easy to miss since there's no exterior signage (it's in the very back of the Citgo).
