Food on the San Juan Islands?

Hi Everyone,
I'm doing a day trip out to the San Juan islands and I'm trying to decide which one to visit. We're just going to take a ferry over and tool around for a few hours and head back. We have a car we can take if needed.

Any good eats on any of the islands that we need to check out?

  1. where did you end up for your happy hour (per your earlier post)? and for your Sunday brunch (per your other post)? TIA

    1. Jiddy, The Duck Soup Inn near Friday Harbor has a well established rep.

      1. Blue Dolphin next to the Friday Harbor ferry is a cheap but good breakfast/lunch place. If you have a car and like seafood, there is a place that sells live oysters, clams, and mussels on the way to Roche Harbor. There is winery on that road that offers tasting. Near where the seaplane lands, there is a house boat-like place that sells seafood. They have nice smoked salmon and dip.

        1. I prefer Orcas over San Juan because it's a little less touristy and more laid-back. Good eats: Olga Cafe (it's still open, I was just there), Doe Bay (though service is VERY, uh, laid-back, food is outstanding), and The Kitchen for casual meals.
