Last Night at Centro Vinoteca - good but...
Went last night with a friend. I liked the food - we had the rock shrimp with garlic and the eggplant appetizer and I had the snapper (delicious) and my friend the skate. I liked everything but my friend thought the food was a bit oversalted (it was salty but I like salt). Service was fine but...the eggplant appetizer came out after our entrees (we had asked the waiter about it and was assured it "was coming right out". Needless to say, it didn't. No apologies were made nor was there any acknowledgement that we were having an appetizer with our entree.)
Also, there was a table of 6 that was so loud it made the whole night unpleasant. Several other diners asked them to tone it down, myself included, and we also asked the manager to say something. Unfortunately, nothing worked with this group. While I understand having a good time, screaming and laughing to the point where other people complain is not acceptable in my book. Am I being too grumpy here?
Overall, I'd come back for drinks and a quick bite at the bar but am not sure I'll be back for dinner any time soon.
So glad you mentioned that. I had posted my initial review a while back when Centro first opened and I loved it (esp the skate and the eggplant you had). Went 2 weeks ago and had the Bucatini All' Amatriciana and the skate. Both were very salty (granted, the pasta has pancetta, but still). We also ordered a side of broccoli rabe, and it came after our main courses were not only finished, but had been cleared.
Still a solid restaurant with a low key, laid back atmosphere, but I hope that they pull together the loose ends before review time....
