Dim Sum for Lunch on Friday on Spadina

My GF just told me that I should take her to lunch during the week once in a while. Okay, I can do that.

So, dim sum it is. What would be good on Spadina? Should we go to Rol San, or Bright Pearl?

Other suggestions?

Thanks.

I agree that Forestview is great if you are looking for tradional dim sum with carts. But the food is no where near as fresh and well prepared as Rol San. I am a huge fan of Rol San but decided to try Forestview because of postings on CH.

Putting the food first, I give Forestview a thumbs down for over cooked and mushy chicken feet, Shui Mei wasn't served hot, the Haw Gow was pasty inside. The place was packed but not all dishes were fresh or hot. I don't eat all the fried stuff which seemed very plentiful at Forestview so I can't comment on that part but I would hate to think that they too were not hot!

Rol San is fresh and hot and so satisfying every single visit. Personally, I would never let the hectic place keep me from having the best dim sum downtown.

          Second Forestview.
Dim sum I enjoyed there: steamed rice roll with beef, steam rice roll with chicken (in bamboo steamer), pan fried shrimp dumpling, braised beef tendon & pig's blood.

Thanks. I did a bit more researech. I saw your post from a while back and read about Forestview. Now, it's between Rol San and Forestview. I think my GF will be squeamish about the carts if the servers are not good at describing the items, so maybe we'll stick to Rol San this time, and try Forestview next time.

Also, can't wait to have the Da Lu noodles at Mother's again soon.

            Thanks again.

              isn't a picture worth a thousand words?

rol san has cryptic words on a menu to describe something that cart restaurants will lift the lid off of to show you. on that note, kim moon serves dimsum in the back space and you can get a sneak preview at their bakery counter. good crystal shrimp dumplings.

Rol San, back room. Better food but no carts.

If you want dim sum in Toronto, no one does it better than the Metropolitan Hotel.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we're not on an expense account :-)

Just looking for a Spadina Avenue place. Definitely Lai Wah Heen another time though.
