Guy Savoy

Should I eat here when I'm in Paris next month?

Personally, Guy Savoy is my favorite 3 star because it is the best dinner party in town... it isn't stuffy and everyone knows each other - I always feel welcome and no matter if Ibring a vegan or someone who doesn't drink wine, they deliver without blinking. They are professional and well, fun. In a city where it is hard to get all the boxes checked they do it for my requirements: ambiance, check... quality of food and wine, check... unstuffy service, check... money well spent, check. I've lived here 20 years and have had my fill of over the top restaurants with mind-blowing food and pretentious staff. Guy's charming new 6 min video shows everything that goes into the kitchen and the staff... I wrote about it here: http://bit.ly/81Kgaf

I had the 100e lunch at Guy Savoy last Friday. Enjoyed the experience very much though the food wasn't exactly mind blowing.

Same as ChefJune. I reviewed it a few months ago: http://julotlespinceaux.blogspot.com/...

The executive summary is: it is not the best food (very good nevertheless), but it is probably one of the best restaurants -- it is almost a cabaret, a party, with hyper friendly staff, tons of suprises and little attentions, a very cosy, friendly yet jetsetty atmosphere. I would consider it one of the best first-time fine dining experience, and it will be appreciated by non-foodies as well.

But, as amply discussed on this board, if you are focused on amazing food and educated on gastronomy, there are better options.

And, during the rugby world cup, they do the afters: you can come for dinner at 11pm. (7 sept-20 oct)

Souphie, we are wondering whether to go for the 100e lunch at Guy Savoy but we can't remember whether we have been (!). A couple of years ago we went somewhere that you recommended for the best value 100 e lunch and wine was most generously included, yet on your blog you say that wine is not included in the lunch - or at least that you spent quite a lot on wine. Please could you help us out of our lamentable befuddlement? Thank you so much.

You already went. For a different great value lunch, consider Le Cinq (85 + Bev), Michel Rostang (95 all included), La Grande Cascade (85 all included, works for dinner too), Ledoyen (88+bev). Sormani and la Table de JR are also pretty good, their lower price reflecting lower standards but still great times (60e bi).

If you want to! What is it you're looking for in a dining experience?

It is a very good choice. It depends on what you're looking for obviously.
