New Ideas for Happy Hour, Downtown DC

caphil07 Aug 28, 2007 07:13 AM

I live in Capitol Hill and am looking for some good happy hours that don't include the Pour House, Capitol Lounge (insert Capitol Hill Bar here) etc. Food doesn't have to be anything worth writing home about. I'd like to stay in Northwest if I could. Any suggestions on a good place to get a drink after work? Also somewhere that will have a few tv's with some type of sports package would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hate to sound like a broken record here, but I really do enjoy Poste for some good cocktails and happy hour priced truffle fries.

Have you hit up any of the Irish pubs in Eastern Market? Right off the metro, a whole line of places, great specials.

Are you looking for beer, wine or cocktails? For beer I think RFD by Verizon center has a couple of TVs. Cocktails- in same area Poste and Zola followed by Matchbox. For wine try Proof. Of course there is always the ESPN Zone.

PS7 is my current favorite: delicious inexpensive drinks (their entire drink menu is available at reduced prices) and awesome bar food cheap. Order off the drink menu, because the use homemade sour mix that really makes a difference. Best. Gimlet. Ever.
