My girlfriend and I are meeting in New York for a weeks vacation, though I used to live there I didnt have such a healthy obsession with food at the time and never got to any of the fancier restaurants. We have lunchtime reservations for Jean George on a weekday in early september and we both are curious to know what the acceptable dresscode is? Cheers.

No jeans, no shorts, and no flip-flops. Think business casual.

I would wear jacket, no tie. You will see many men in full business regalia.

At dinner, they require a jacket (though they will lend you one). Don't know if lunch is different.

I was just there for lunch, and looking around, it seemed that most men were wearing sport jackets, no tie. But there were also men there in nice business casual without jackets, as well as those with full traditional business attire. All of these options seemed fine and fitting there.

I'd suggest business casual too. My fiance did not wear a jacket. I'll note that there were quite a few sloppy people there. I think I even remember a pair of shorts. Definitely some untucked polo shirts, etc.
