While Mother's rebuilds... [Moved from Austin Board]
Good news to see Mother's starting remodeling, in the meantime, anyone know of a recipe for that red sauce they used to put on everything?
I have friends who used to hate the stuff but I've kind of been craving it and I've never come across anything in stores similarly versatile.
Keith Wahrer,one of the owners of the Daily Juice, knows that recipe...he cooked there for years...of course, the recipe demands QUITE a bit of division...it makes gallons....but maybe if you stop by the D J and buy a big bunch of juice,he'd give it to you. I love it,too-the ranchero,right? On the artichoke enchiladas and with the breakfast tacos and burritos,etc? Salivating now.
I don't know the exact recipe but I think it may use smoked chipotle pepper in a tomato sauce base. I use the canned ones and there is also a dried powder that is great to have on hand for all sorts of things.
