Sizzling Rice Soup recipes [Moved from Greater Asia board]

We used to have a Chinese restaurant in my home town. They had a sizzling rice soup that was out of this world. I need an authentic recipe as I would like to make it at home. This is my all time favorite food and can not find it in any cookbook. Can you all help me?

Was it in a clay pot? Can you describe it a bit? I'm guessing it's a form of congee.
