While strolling through Gene's Fine Foods (in Saratoga's Quito Shopping Center) last night, I saw that their mushroom section has expanded to over a dozen different types -- and all are in excellent condition.

Abalone, chanterelle, oyster, and a new variety I'd only seen at my local Asian super, are there. Prices are competitive (the abalone and chanterelles are US$19.99/lb.)

Since Spawn and I are the only two in my clan that appreciate all mushrooms beyond simple button, I wasn't allowed a splurge in this area of foodom but thought others might like to know -- especially regarding the chanterelles.
