I stopped by Racanelli's Pizzeria the other day in Rye Brook after spending a day watching the PGA tournament near by. It was a very enjoyable experience.

I ordered a brick oven napoletana pie and my wife ordered the "Racanelli Salad"

My pie came out excellent, the thin crust was nice and crispy, the sauce was sweet and the cheese was fresh. My wife was also happy with her salad but was a little caught off guard when it came out - it may have been as big as she is!

The restaurant is beautiful too with a great atmosphere (a lot of golfers which I'm attributing to the tournament). Nice outdoor seating too.

My only complaint is that service was a bit blotchy, we had to actively wave our server down when we wanted the check.

Pro's: Food, atmosphere, decor

Con's: Slow service, Met's game on TV

My office orders its bi-weekly pizza lunch from Racanelli's. The pizza pies are better than many other local joints (even after sitting around for a few hours!). We also order a HUGE salad tray with chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, calamata olives and tomatoes. They give us tons of dressing and a free dessert, a tray of cream puffs to which some are now addicted.

I think if you go there on your birthday, you get a free slice of cake.

I haven't been there in years, when it was Pizza & Brew, but I would fear that the outdoor seating would result in breathing in a lot of car fumes and listening to a lot of car noises, since it's so close to the parking lot.

I'll agree that the food is good, but the service is one of the worst I've ever seen! We eat out regulalry with 2 other couples and their children- we are 7 kids and 6 adults in all. Our children are well behaved, they know how to behave in resturants, they do not yell, scream, walk around. They ARE children (ages 4-8),however, and they make normal childhood noises- so we eat out early- as in between 5 and 5:30 . We went to P & B on a Saturday night, and the manager was the rudest I've EVER seen in a resturant. The little kids were fine- nothing odd- and the guy didn't want to seat us because we had a lot of kids! He questionsed the host right in front of me- "You said you'd seat them?, well, then I guess we'll TRY it" in a nasty voice- the resturant was 3/4 empty. I told him we wouldn't eat anywhere kids weren't welcome, and we went elsewhere. I've heard from others that this is not an isolated incident., so Pizza & Brew, or Racanellis, or whatever they want to call themselves now are off my list forever.

I agree Wendyd!! My husband and I took our 3 1/2 and 5 year old kids there about 2 weeks ago and the service was AWFUL!!! It took FOREVER to get a server to our table, then they forgot to bring my wine to the table. I swear they sat us in a corner because they saw our kids. The wait to actually get our entrees was looooooooong. Then, we we finally got the bill, they had added 2 vodka & tonics and a pinot grigio that we did not order. As far as the menu, when they renovated and revamped the place, they eliminated some of the great pasta specials that my family loved to order! That is definitely the last time we go there for dinner.

Went for lunch with my friends (no kids, they were all in school). The service was slow too. My friend and I ordered cobb salad. It came and had different ingredients than it said in the menu (dried cranberries and walnuts were added). We called over the manager who said there was nothing he could do about it, the kitchen just does whatever!!!! I won't be back-- it was awful.

Yes, I usually like the brick oven pizza. There is a new italian place by Food Emporium that I think has better food. The owners are very nice. They cook food to order so they are slow. Worth a try.

They do have food other than pizza. The menu had basic Italian dishes and, I think, sandwiches. I haven't been there, but ordered pizza delivered once and it took a long time to arrive. After it was about 1/2 hour beyond when they told me it would arrive, I called and they said it was on its way. I think it wound up showing up about 40/45 minutes later than they had told me. The pizza was fine, but nothing particularly greater than other places in the area.

It's a nice smaller version of pizza and brew. They have a full menu in addition to pizza (both regular and brick oven). Their salads are fresh. Pasta dishes are good. It's new, they have to get a few kinks out, but I think it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Finally got there last evening, and for a Saturday, there wasn't a terrible wait. I don't like the tables right under the half-wall where people are waiting, but hey, some people sat there.

Service was good, and the pizza was very good. The fried calamari was, I imagine, just frozen reheated, but was a better caliber than one I just had recently at Totonno's.

I was wondering, though, do pizza places usually give bread with pizza? I didn't get any. I wanted to ask for it, but mr. dolores wouldn't let me. The salads and macaroni at other tables looked very good.

I recommend them.
