The Chinese restaurant Jade Gardens is quite good, for Suffolk County and there are a few Japanese restaurants around. For excellent Italian food there is Cafe La Strada, on Route 111, just south of the expressway. There are quite a few restaurants on Motor Parkway, alongside the industrial park. Sempre Vivolo and San Marco are upscale restaurants with a good reputation. For inexpensive corporate type food, just west of Hauppauge on Rt 347 is Famous Daves, fair barbecue; and Carraba's for a chain type Italian restaurant with decent food. Went to Cafe La Strada and it was terrific! I highly recommend it, and the seafood pescatore was superb - perfectly cooked seafood in a flavorful sauce with linguini.
