Need a "Special" Restaurant on LI
Would like to host a 90th birthday dinner party on a sunday afternoon in January for approximately 17 adults and 8 children under 10 years. (Preferably cocktails and passed hors d'oeuves at 3:30 before dinner) Any suggestions for a very beautiful restaurant on Long Island, which would not require a catering menu.

From what I gather, Rothmann's, a very beautiful steakhouse set in almost a Victorian-style mansion in East Norwich, handles large parties quite deftly. They have special rooms to accomodate parties your size and would most likely be available to extend their Sunday brunch as a sort of an hor d'oeuves hour or what have you. Check them out.
