Sorry regarding that first post... I want to know the best place for a steak b/t these two. I've heard great things and bad things about both from doing a search...If you had to pick on atmosphere, which is better? Also, I would like to know, does Grill 225 have rooftop dining?

Grill 225 gave me one of the worst meals in recent memory. I have eaten at many a hole-in-the-wall and greasy spoon that have given me indigestion on a smaller scale. That being said, I have only eaten there once. I would try it again but it would have to be with a group so that I could try enough food in one fell swoop to justify never eating there again.

I have not eaten at Oak yet but their menu looks really good and I received a glowing review from a respected source. A vegetarian friend of mine ate there with his wife and said that it was superb (if a steak-house is worth a hoot it should have sides as good as the steaks IMHO; after all, mother nature really does most of the work on a steak). They are also into good wine and said that the wine and wine-service was great as well. He called ahead and spoke to the sommelier who was helpful and informative.

Thanks for your input, CharlestonChow, my birthday's next month, so I think we're leaning to OAK...So Grill 225 didn't do it for ya, sorry to hear that, it's been on our list of "next places to go." Could you tell me if Grill 225 has rooftop dining?

I ate in the dining room. I do not know if there is rooftop dining available. I encourage you to try it though. Maybe my experience was an isolated incident. I would try Oak for a special occasion though.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that Grill 225 has rooftop dining. It is in the Market Pavilion Hotel, and the roof seems to be largely taken up by their rooftop bar and pool. I know the bar serves food, but I don't think it is the same menu as the downstairs restaurant.

Thanks guys, I just told my husband that OAK is where I want to go...It seems like a cool atmosphere, and I've heard the steaks are wonderful. I'll report back next month as to what we got!
