Lentil Soup at Elena's

djquinnc Aug 24, 2007 11:57 PM

I had an unexpected revelation at Elena's Greek Armenian Cuisine for lunch today. I was car shopping in Glendale and decided to hop on over to this joint finally. With my lulu kebab, I chose the soup option. I swear, this must be the best lentil soup I have ever consumed. I ate every last drop and was trying to ascertain why it was so yummy. The lentils were perfectly cooked: soft, but not mushed into a gruel. But the broth: lemon, fresh herbs...I would go back again just for a bowl of this soup. And would kill for the recipe.

I don't know what's in it, but I love their lentil soup too. It's very slightly variable, but always good.

haven't tried Elena's yet, but most other Middle Eastern lentil soups use some cumin among the other ingredients, which has an amazing affinity for lentils.
