Doug Arrango's Changing

We went for the first time and I just loved the place. The food was very good (altho not much veg and potato with the meat--guess you need to order those a la carte) and the space was an interesting combination of outdoor patio (floor, chairs) and New York ambiance (walls, art). So, of course changes are afoot. They're going to close down in a few weeks to re-do the place, at which point it will be called Melrose Bar & Grill. It looks like they are going the dark wood route and the sample table looked like what they use at The Village Idiot. The waitress swears the only thing that will change will be the decor. The place was pretty empty so I guess the owners think new furniture will jazz it up and make a difference. Anyway, if you like the way it is now, you better go for a last meal there soon.

I'm thrilled it's changing. I had a horrible experience there a couple of years ago...

I did too, but my comments tried to focus on creating as much of a positive spin on the fact that the owners recognize issues and are trying to do something about it. I wish them well.

While I am not a fan of the food value there, the room to me was even more disconcerting. Sure hope with a new name change and a new decor that they would make the menu more user friendly, and a bit less expensive.
Sure seemed high priced for modest quality food, as in higher priced than Osteria Mozza as an example or Jar for another example.
