Thanks to London Chowhounds

My husband and I recently returned from London and as usual had some great dining experiences. This is due, in large part, to the responses that we get on this site. Many thanks!

We were staying in the Olympia area and had lunch at the Hand and Flower Pub - a very good Cajun wrap was delivered - went very well with a beer to get us on our way to a great afternoon walk in the area.

That evening we very much enjoyed a Toptable offer at the Dorchester Hotel. Absolutely wonderful food and great service. It is not cheap, but is a meal to be remembered. Highly recommended.

We also enjoyed breakfast at Franks Sandwich Bar - was a sunny London day and we could sit outside (a novelty this year!!). The bacon and egg we ordered was very nicely cooked.

The next night we were looking for a nice pub. A friend had suggested The Windmill on Mill Street in Mayfair. Had a very well cooked fish and chips (my husband had a craving for this). We ate in the pub (they also have a dining room upstairs) and were very content.

Lunches at the V & A and the Tate Modern were fine - nothing to get excited about but nothing bad either.

The last night we ate at Zaika on Kensington High Street as we were going to Royal Albert Hall. What a treat! We both thought it was the best Indian food we had ever eaten. Hope to return again next year.

We really enjoy our time in London and hope to return next summer.

  1. I like the Windmill too, though I've not been there for a couple of years. They used to do very good and substantial sandwiches.
