Wedding anniversary dinner in Orange County?

Hi all,

I love this board, but never have posted...so here goes the first one:

I am looking at a few options for an anniversary dinner (2nd one). She really wanted to get married at a fancy hotel and we looked at the St. Regis and HB Hyatt and they were just too expenive. But maybe a good option for a dinner. My choices so far are:

- Stonehill Tavern
- The Californian
- Napa Rose

I look forward to any advice between my choices...want a romantic and home run evening. thanks.

I like Napa Rose...but it's not too intimate. Haven't been to Stonehill Tavern nor The Californian.

My other immediate thoughts run to The Cellar, which I found to be romantic...a very good neighbourhood restaurant (though not a destination restaurant) and Roy's (I love their chocolate souffle) or The Hobbit (based on a friend's recommendation).

    Good luck!

Since you had those two hotels on your wish list, it might be nice to go to the corresponding restaurants. I have no experience with the Californian, but Stonehill Tavern should do just fine, friendly service and well prepared food; you could consider staying overnight as a little treat. There was a recent thread about it.

Napa Rose is fine, but I don't think it's particularly romantic as it is Disney. Lots of guests in shorts, and other resort wear. However, if you like Disney, well it might be nice to eat there and go for a stroll afterwards, seeing the fireworks, etc. The food and service can be uneven, but when they're on, it's quite good.

Studio at the Montage would fall onto the list, but I've never found it worth the price.

Thanks kdoc. I am open to better ideas. But it seems that Stonehill Tavern is in the lead for me personally.
