In Orange there are two places I liked. Actually I had Johnny Rebs fried chicken at the Bellflower location. My son took me to Arthur’s for their fried chicken about a year ago and it was also very good. I am not sure whether Arthur’s was doing one of their specials which they change from time-to-time. I miss the chicken fried tenderloin which was one such breakfast special they ran for several months. Just to be safe, call before you go there for the chicken.
In SGV we are lucky to have a Shakey's pizza in Covina that makes FC as good as Roscoe's. I have never tried a OC Shakey's...

You might try broasted chicken; it's chicken fried under pressure. Broasted is a wonderful option to fried. I love it. So tender, juicy! www.chowhound.com/topics/386227

Broasted chicken also at Zubie's Chicken Coop in Newport Beach. Might just be called the Chicken Coop now, as I think somebody mentioned they dropped Zubie's from the name.
The address for Chicken Coop that I have is:
414 Old Newport Blvd
Newport BeachBut it has been over a year since I've been there, and Chowhound's links indicate that there is a new address:
830 Pine Place
Costa MesaI'll have to check that out soon to see if they have indeed moved.
Haven't been to yet, but have also read Pittsburgh Chicken & Taters and Grandma's Chicken House as serving broasted chicken also.

If North Orange County isn't too far, I'd highly recommend going to the Hungry Bear in Fullerton. Yes, it's a steakhouse, but the fried chicken there is extremely good. Plus, the cutesy, ole timey atmosphere is fun.

I thought most of the Pioneer chicken places went out of business? Which one did you go to? I love their chicken!
