Stonewood Tavern in Ormond Beach?

Anyone been? Thoughts?

  1. It's a locally owned chain. I haven't been yet -- odd considering one's across the street from me -- but I've heard good things about their steaks, service and desserts.

    1. I go to the Stonewoods in Port Orange often, but I used to make the trip to Ormond before the Port Orange location opened a couple years ago. The service is friendly and efficient and the food always consistent. It has a nice classy tavern setting with mostly booth seating.

The seared Ahi Tuna is one of my favorites, though I find the dipping sauce a bit sweet for my tastes. It can also be ordered in an entrée portion. I love the thick balsamic vinaigrette dressing that comes on the bruschetta and the herb encrusted grouper (used to be swordfish, but I think they received so many requests to substitute grouper that they changed it on the menu)

I’ve also enjoyed the filet mignon, but find their garlic mashed potatoes a bit dry. Lemon Chardonnay Chicken Florentine – request it over pasta to be sure to soak up all the yummy sauce.

      1. I have been many times to the one here in Jacksonville and I have never been disappointed with any aspect of the dining experience. I am not a big fan of chain restaurants but this one gets two thumbs up from me. Their specialty is steak and seafood, Enjoy!

        1. For chain restaurants, it's pretty good. Seafood has always been fresh when I've gone there, Their specialty is a chocolate bread pudding- it is DIVINE. Ask for it with mint choco chip ice cream...yum!
