I am tasked with providing a dinner (perhaps lunch too) in late September for a group of 50 or 60 at a hotel venue. Regrettably, I know NO one in the catering business in the East Bay. Looking for good quality food, but not expensive. No need for foie gras here, but well prepared fresh ingredients food. Hoping to top out at $10 or so per person or maybe a little higher. Can anyone help me?

When you book a room at a hotel, they usually do not allow outside caterers. You only use their people. If by chance they allow outside caterers, they provide the list of whom is allowed. You best check that out first.

As to $10 a head, I can't imagine any meal that cheaply done.

The Back Forty does a great cookout/BARBQ meal. They are in Pleasant Hill.

Rick and Ann's in Brk is very good. 610-649-0869

Scott's in WC is very good. I think the catering part is in Oakland. 510-444-5969

Masimo on Loucust in WC is connected to a caterer. I do not know her name,

I have not hired any of these companies. But have eaten their food at parties, etc.

I had a great catered lunch from Sunshine Catering in Walnut Creek recently. Unfortunately, an earlier time I tried to use them they got the date confused and no showed. But, yesteday's lunch was really lovely!

Do you by chance mean Sunrise Catering? http://www.sunrisebistrocatering.com/

My friend used them for her wedding recently and I thought they did a great job.

$10 is tough. You could try the original Kinders in Pleasant Hill.

$10 is difficult for dinner, but you may want to try Pasta Pomodoro, they have a great catering menu and the catering staff, Randa Willet, is great with working with you and a budget.
