Is this place open anymore? Their website suggests it is but has no other information.

If so, still worth going to? I know the chef left town.

Nope. It's gone. For a while Rene was doing a weekday lunch in the hotel lobby, but I'm pretty sure he's moved on by this point.

I walk past it every morning on my way to work, and the restaurant is in the middle of a HUGE renovation. There are still signs on the outside with the bistro's name, so I'm guessing it may be returning as the same place. I had only been once before Katrina, and had a terrible experience in terms of service. I remember the food being good.

If my very reliable sources are correct, you're all in for a big surprise with that location... and, unfortunatly, it aint Chef Rene's return.

I'm excited to see what it becomes. Hmmm, I wonder when the signs are coming down, then. Any more clues? Now I'm super curious.

I got the info from an insider a couple of months ago. It shouldn't be too hard to find out talking to the right people... I dont want to build a buzz for the place because it was dispicable how they kept the restaurant from opening anywhere but the lobby of the hotel just so they (hotel, not Rene) could collect biz-interuption insurance... I have a huge problem with any property that has the gall to pull that claim for 2 years (thus raising the price of insurance for legit establishments).
