Dinner at Mirage...which restaurant

Hello,

My husband and a colleague will be in Las Vegas for a medical conference. They have one night off and are considering seeing LOVE at the Mirage. Which restaurant would you suggest dining at there? Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for everyone's input. The point about "hip factor" is pretty funny to me. We're talking about two middle aged doctors from Philadelphia. Great guys, brilliant physicians....but not hip! However, they do appreciate really good food. I'll give them both suggestions and let them choose. Thanks so much!

I too am not a big fan of the restaurants at The Mirage. I've been to Stack a couple of times, and agree with those who call the food mediocre - not bad, but not special either.

Bouchon is a better choice if you have the time. It seems to me that meals at Bouchon are a little more leisurely, although it might simply be that at Stack I tended to eat quickly and leave.

i vote for STACK - mediocre...i don't think so...it's got more hip/flare then substance but it's decent and i like how they put a modern twist on old favs - grilled cheese, chili/cheese dogs, jelly donuts, etc ...i did a photo review on the place earlier this year - it's a hip steakhouse but they have many options beyond steak - if you are a people watcher you can usually see a star or 2 dining here...and it's a very short walk to your show ....enjoy !

          Hmmm ...

Well, a restaurant that has " more hip/flare then substance but it's 'decent' " to me is average - ergo, mediocre. I'm not trying to argue at all but I stand by what I said.

If you're 20-somethings and want pricey grilled cheese, chili dogs, and jelly donuts served in a loud setting - go to Stack.

If you're looking for a restaurant serving fantastic food, some of the best oysters and shellfish in the city, served in a gorgeous setting at reasonable prices - take the extra couple minutes and walk over to Bouchon. It's worth it.

I am a fan of Bouchon but to say a few minutes to walk from bouchon to Love....that's a stretch and depending on time/day , can be hectic....and hot ! also, average = mediocre ?? really ? yes, the food is pricey, but i think most strip restaurants are pricey. i also agree stack is more for the 20 somethings...maybe 30 somethings too...different strokes for different folks !

We walked from dinner at B & B over to the Mirage to see "Love" last month and it couldn't have taken more than 10-15 minutes. I don't think Bouchon would be any different. Part of that is definitely outside, across the bridge and down the escalator and into the hotel, but that isn't more than 5-7 minutes (ok, I'm estimating), manageable even in the heat, and it always seems hotter at night which as an L.A. gal I never quite understand.

I would skip all the restaurants at the Mirage and head to Bouchon just across the street at the Venetian. Depending on which Love show you are seeing, you will be able to have a fantastic meal and still make the short walk ( no more than 10 minutes ) back across to the Mirage and see the show.

IMO, the restaurants at the Mirage and very mediocre. Nothing really stands out for me.
