MY NIECE JUST BEGAN SCHOOL IN RICHMOND AT EAST KY UNIVERSITY. SHE IS A "MALL RAT"AND HER IDEA OF A GREAT MEAL IS OLIVE GARDEN OR SOMETHING SIMILAR.I WANT TO SEND A GIFT CERTIFICATE TO SOMETHING CLOSE BY THAT HER AND A FRIEND WOULD LIKE- CHAIN- LIKE RESTAURANTS WITH HIGH CARB, FATTY FOODS AND LOTS OF PASTAS, GARLIC KNOTS, ETC.JUST TO GIVE AN EXAMPLE, THE ONLY CHINESE FOOD ITEM THAT SHE HAS HAD IS SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN(IS THAT ACTUALLY SOMETHING THEY CREATED FOR AMERICANS?!)

The Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill isn't that far away in miles, but a world away from Olive Garden in time. (The lemon pie is a must desert and when the autumn leaves are falling, and you're walking through the town, it is just plain wonderful.)

much too fancy and grown up- she's an unexposed , unsophisticated eater and has teen taste- chains that are familiar to her are ideal. she's from louisville- i think her favorite there was pasta factory or something like that- do you know of anything like that?

We've tried to eat in Richmond twice, driven through, and kept driving.
I think there's a Cracker Barrel there. A quick google search indicates there's an O'Charley's. (And they do have gift certificates.)
There's also a chinese restaurant and an Indian Restaurant BUT wait for recommendations before sending a neophyte to either.

They have a Red Lobster, O Charleys, Hooters,Outback. My Favorite place is a dive called Madison Gardens beside the post office down town. They have hot wings to die for! They are kinda of a bar type but oh so much more.Killer hot Brown and all kinds of Pasta dishes...they have been there for 20 plus years.I am telling you it is not to be missed!

Thanks for the tip LaLa.I'm sending my dad there asap. He's in Richmond a couple times a week and even though he's was an old school hound when the school was built; has consigned himself to eating at whatever's handy.I'll get a review from the silverback himself and post it.
