Help me decide!
Dinner tomorrow night with my grandparents. Places that have space: A Voce, Cru, or DB Bistro Moderne. They've already been to some of the more predictable uptown fancy restaurants, so I want to do something a little different. Eating early. Thoughts?
How early is early? While A Voce's food is delicious, as the place fills up, the noise level keeps rising until it's so insanely high that you and your grandparents will have to shout at each other in order to carry on a conversation. In my view, not a very comfortable dining experience.
I haven't been to dbBistro in quite a while, but the food was good when we were there. If you're eating early, you'll be dining with the pre-theater crowd, which can tend to give a restaurant a frantic feel.
Even though I've never been to Cru, that would be my choice. (It's on my "go to" list.) Chef Shea Galant's cuisine gets very high marks, the wine list is stellar, and from what I've heard, the ambiance is very pleasant.
