Trendy but delish in Manhattan

I'm relatively new to town and have a guest in town this weekend. We'd like to try a trendy restaurant that is also known for great food. Any recommendations?

    1. New American, Italian, French, we're pretty flexible. We're looking for something with a scene and good food. As for part of town, Soho, Village, Chelsea, UWS, pretty much anything on the west side. Not the Meatpacking District, though.

How about: Lure Fishbar, The Stanton Social, Landmarc at Time Warner, A Voce, Public, The Orchard

A Voce definitely has a scene, but is very loud. If you go, have drinks somewhere, maybe Eleven Madison Park around the corner, and then eat later (after 9:30). I would second Lure, and while it isn't new and trendy, Gotham Bar and Grill is also a great place to take out of towners who want the buzz of a NY restaurant.

I also agree with Lure! Afterwards you might want to check out Mercer Kitchen (downstairs) or Bar 89 for a drink.

      2. Spotted Pig (will be a wait) or Da Silvano in West Village. Pastis or Spice Market in Meatpacking. Next door Nobu or Blue Ribbon Sushi. La Esquina for mexican

i second la esquina. The food at employees only is surprisingly good too.

        2. "Trendy" is a very subjective word, so my view of trendy may not be the same as other hounds. Places that I think are trendy with good food include: The Bar Room at the Modern, Perry St, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (casual chic), Soto, Insieme, and as others suggested, A Voce.

          1. Thanks for the recs! I have a reservation for Lure and am looking forward to it.
