Good eats in Toms River/Lacey/Forked River area

HungryRubia Aug 22, 2007 09:24 AM

Hubby and I are going down to stay at grandma's this weekend and want to try someplace good to eat. Not too pricey and preferably NOT another diner unless it's something out of this woorld spectacular.
Also, I am not a big seafood eater.

Thanks in advance.

I would try Bistro 44 in Toms River.

My family has always enjoyed the food at Shady Rest on Route 9 in Bayville. Family-style Italian, a few wines to choose from, great garlic bread, tasty pizza, big menu of other things. (The stuffed eggplant is a favorite.)

Il Giardino is the best restaurant in Forked River. Real good Italian with a nice atmosphere. Liquor license too.

Really nice restaurant, I agree. If you make a reservation, request a table by the window.

I'm adding another vote for Il Giardino. Very nice, IMO.

If you enjoy sushi, Fuji on Route 9 in Forked River is exceptional. Everything is really fresh, creatively prepared, and the service is excellent. They also have a hibachi...if that's your preference, get there early. BYOB.
