Looking for a great restaurant for after the Red Sox/Yankees game on 9/15

Hubby and I live North of Boston. We are going to the Red Sox/Yankees game on Saturday, 9/15. We would like to have a nice dinner in Back Bay or somewhere nearby after the game. We like steak, seafood, italian, mexican. Any suggestions for someplace fun with good food? We are both 50 years old so we are not looking for a college atmosphere. Thanks in advance.

I admit that I'd like to try El Pelon as suggested by another, but would go there before for something casual. Like you, I might want to try something kinda nice and/or fun on the way out. Here's what I like to do (weather/time permitting)...

I usually go in on the Green line, which is really bad before the game and really, really bad after the game. So, to avoid the crowds in Kenmore Square and on the Green line, I like to walk back to my car, which I often park at/around Boston Common, by way of Newbury St. Last time we stopped at Tapeo and had some nice tapas and sangria. If I had my druthers, I might stop at Casa Romero for Mexican (the pork tenderloin and sangria are also good there).

I like Eastern Standard, but its hugely crowded after the game. Great Bay is an excellent recommendation if you want something a bit more upscale. You also can walk just a block or so further and go to Petit Robert.

I would also suggest Petit Robert which is a short walk down Comm Ave from Kenmore Sq. Nice little French bistro with classic offerings at reasonable prices.

I would also recommend Petit Robert. It would be perfect for what you are looking for.

Love Petit Robert--and entrees are under $20. Tables are tight though. Good wines.

If you don't mind a casual spot VERY close to Fenway on Beacon Street (away from the crazy Kenmore Sq. crowds), try O'Leary's—a small pub/restaurant with bountiful, cheap good basic food (fish, steaks, sandwiches). It's less than 5 minutes from Fenway.

If you need to drown your sorrows after the Yankees (hopefully) stomp all kinds of Sox ass, Eastern Standard has the best cocktails in the city.

India Quality is close by, too, and has excellent food.

I recommend all visiting Yankee fans go there and order the vindaloo extra spicy.

            It's really quite mild.

Hey, I'm a Sox fan and I always order my vindaloo at India Quality extra spicy. Let the Yankee fans eat the mild stuff.

I am on record as being both a Yankee fan and a huge fan of IQ's awesome Vindaloo, to the point that I complained when dining at sister restaurant Punjab Palace tthat the Vindaloo wasn't spicy enough.

It was a joke, Blumie. I was hoping to get those poor, timid souls to think India Quality was mild, then incinerate their palates.

Eastern Standard is a great idea--it's festive and sophisticated, like a brasserie in Paris. They are open til 1AM on weekends, in case you go into extra innings.

For Mexican near the park, there's El Pelon (quite casual but pretty good), and La Verdad, which is basically an upscale-ish taqueria. Nice creativity there, but as it's the old Tiki Bar, the atmosphere can be a bit loud and boisterous. Not overly so, but...

You might try Great Bay in Kenmore Square. Excellent seafood in a sophisticated atmosphere GO SOX!

My favorite in the area is Trattoria Toscana. Great Tuscan food.
