Looking for a great restaurant for after the Red Sox/Yankees game on 9/15
Hubby and I live North of Boston. We are going to the Red Sox/Yankees game on Saturday, 9/15. We would like to have a nice dinner in Back Bay or somewhere nearby after the game. We like steak, seafood, italian, mexican. Any suggestions for someplace fun with good food? We are both 50 years old so we are not looking for a college atmosphere. Thanks in advance.

I admit that I'd like to try El Pelon as suggested by another, but would go there before for something casual. Like you, I might want to try something kinda nice and/or fun on the way out. Here's what I like to do (weather/time permitting)...
I usually go in on the Green line, which is really bad before the game and really, really bad after the game. So, to avoid the crowds in Kenmore Square and on the Green line, I like to walk back to my car, which I often park at/around Boston Common, by way of Newbury St. Last time we stopped at Tapeo and had some nice tapas and sangria. If I had my druthers, I might stop at Casa Romero for Mexican (the pork tenderloin and sangria are also good there).

I like Eastern Standard, but its hugely crowded after the game. Great Bay is an excellent recommendation if you want something a bit more upscale. You also can walk just a block or so further and go to Petit Robert.

If you need to drown your sorrows after the Yankees (hopefully) stomp all kinds of Sox ass, Eastern Standard has the best cocktails in the city.

Eastern Standard is a great idea--it's festive and sophisticated, like a brasserie in Paris. They are open til 1AM on weekends, in case you go into extra innings.
