Food near Stratford festival?

Hi everyone,

Looking for great food for not a lot of dough near the Stratford Festival. We'll have a car, though. No steakhouses or BBQ--I'm a vegetarian, though very relaxed one (fish is OK and even chicken stock doesn't bother me. Same with dairy/eggs.)
Thoughts? TIA!

  1. My fave spot for lunch is a little place called the York Street Kitchen on, wait for it, York street. Super-yummy soups, salads and build-your-own sandwiches, fresh materials and lots of options. For a nicer lunch/dinner spot, check out the Sun Room, which has a lovely garden and even lovelier service.

How about a nice dinner. I was there a few years ago and we had a nice dinner. Can't remember the name of the place. We are going on Sept 1, so will be looking for ideas (probably in the mid-range price wise).

    2. Try Sirkel Foods on Wellington Street -- very reasonable prices and usually veg or at least fish options. There's also a new vegetarian restaurant on Erie Street, and also try Boomers on Erie -- things like sweet potato fries and great light-battered fish options. Up a step, Down the Street -- very funky and hip There are a couple good ethnic options -- Raja (Indian) and there is takeout sushi at "The General Store" on Ontario Street. Alas, the Globe restaurant has closed on Downie Street but rumours are there is a fine sushi restaurant opening up in the space shortly.

      Hope this helps.

      1. I second Down the Street. Actors eat there - it must be good!
I have heard that The Church is *the* foodie destination, but I think it's got quite a price tag. My parents, I believe, have always enjoyed the food at Bijou.

        1. We had an ok lunch at Bentley's - good beer selection on tap.
