My husband & I love good food and will be visiting Moab, Utah; Durango, Colorado; Chama, New Mexico, Santa Fe & Albuquerque in late Sept/early Oct. We would appreciate any recommendations for good restaurants in these locations. We're most interested in good food -- atmosphere is secondary.

We just returned from 10 days in Utah and Arizona. We spent two nights in Moab. It's a very lively town -- lots of restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, clothing, etc. We had dinner the first night at Eddie McStiff's which is a brewpub/family restaurant. Food was fine, beer was good, place was nothing special. The second day we had lunch at Milt's Stop 'n Eat. This is a luncheonette, off the beaten path, that has been a Moab institution for over 50 years. They are under new owners who have not changed a thing. You can sit at the counter or order from their take out window. The food is not fancy but it was one of the highlights of our trip! My husband & I both had the frito pie -- a bowl lined with Fritos topped with their homemade chili and onions and cheese. Sounds pretty trashy but it was really good! The kids enjoyed their burgers and dogs and the shakes and malts were delicious. I highly recommend it! (Also, avoid Sunset Grill -- beautiful view from high above Moab but the food was lousy.) We loved Arches & Canyonlands NPs. I assume you're going to both. Enjoy!
