Okonomiyaki anyone?

J.L. Aug 21, 2007 04:02 PM

Hi all,

Any good recommendations on Japanese Okonomiyaki? Prefer Westside, but definitely willing to brave our freeways for a worthy candidate (in true 'Hound spirit).

Thanks in advance!

    2383 Lomita Boulevard #102

Be sure to stop next door for some tea and pastry.

There have been several posts on this Board about Gaja, if you wish further info.

Raku on Olympic & Barrington has okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) on its menu.

Go to Gaja and get the following:

        Hiroshima -style okonomiyaki
        Pork, cheese, and curry okonomiyaki
        fried chicken
        the tomato-based risotto

Take an ice chest, and go next door to Chantilly Patisserie and get the black sesame cream puffs.

That sounds like a great 'Hound-ish plan - I'll try it!

          Domo arigato gozaimasu.

I am told that Restaurant Tombo on Artesia Blvd. in Torrance/RB is a bit better and more authentic than Gaja, but I haven't been.

I have been to Gaja and like it a lot.

Second Chantilly. I like it better than Beard Papas. Also try the Grapefruit Gelee, but don't take them all because I need mine also.

Eboshi is in that same center for noodles (if you could possibly still be hungry). Not my favorite, but solid and definitely authentic.
