A Sandwich in Albuquerque
Hi all! I need to get a sandwich delivered to a friend in Albuquerque. She's at the corner of Montgomery Blvd and Jefferson Street. Any suggestions about who I should call???
Any particular _kind_ of sandwich? You might try California Witches at 505-884-7202, or the Yeller Sub at 505-888-9784. Both are about equidistant from her . . . I have no idea if either delivers though (I don't have food delivered).
Thanks Erich and DebitNM!
I tried all three of these and so far no joy, (Yeller Sub doesn't deliver, Hello Deli has a $30 minimum order and California Witches seems to have gone out of business) but I'm going to keep trying!
My deal is: I'm in NYC, and I have a friend in Albuquerque, and I owe her a sandwich , so I'd love to just have one show up at her office at lunch! Anymore suggestions???
Another thought: there's a local pizza chain (not very good - my standard was set in NY, as well) called Dion's that has pretty decent sandwiches (relative to the other stuff that they sell). Don't know if they deliver, though. The one nearest her is at 505.345.4900.
You have to remember, outside of the urban East most places don't deliver. Good luck with it - I'd offer to run a sandwich by for her some lunchtime for you, but I work either up in Santa Fe or in downtown ABQ. Sorry.
I GOT IT!!! Venezia Pizza. It is the best, closest thing to NY pizza and they have great chicken parm wedges but they are called heros here.

It says limited delivery but maybe if you explain the situation they will drive there. The San Mateo one is just off Montgomery but it is a few miles east of Jefferson.
Erich - I am a native NYer who moved to ABQ in 2001. Venezia's has the most like NY food I found in all of ABQ. If you haven't tried it, do so. I think you will be pleased.
I would avoid Hello Deli at all costs especially if you are used to east coast sandwiches. If you love white bread, plastic cheese and processed meats with tons of sloppy condiments served by an uncouth staff then head right over there. Good luck with the management too, very patronizing should you complain. $30 minimum is a joke. I wouldn't eat it for free. Good luck. I have heard there is a deli owned by someone from NY or NJ that is good somewhere near the Heights but I've never found it and cannot remember where I was told it is. I do remember being told it was in a hard to find spot, clearly that is true, lol.
