Kansas City: Why I love/hate you

Ok, so you're a fabulous place for casual foodies like myself. So many simple choices for great food, coffee and baked goods. So what's my beef? everything in closed on Monday! Ok, Ok, so in the long run that's probably a good thing, but all i had was a monday, and I missed out on so many places I wanted to try. Anyway, until I return I thank you very much for:

The Roasterie (and Broadway to a slightly lesser extent)
Sharps for incredible biscuits and gravy and potatoes
Christopher Elbow chocolates
Wheatfield's out in Lawrence.

I had a list of bakeries to hit, including Fervere, Boulangerie Phillipe, and Napoleon, but they were all closed. KC, you have a lot to be proud of. I would give my left arm just to have cappuccinos like you can get at the roasterie in Dallas. I look forward to returning and trying all i missed, including some more "grown up" food as well.

what' about arthur bryan'ts aka charlie bryant's still good? or vastly inferior to it's former self when the original proprietor was still around?

also, is it better to go to the original location (brooklyn ave???)

      thanks.

yes - go to the original location. Very safe and worth it.

I am moving back to KC from Chicago and looking forward to going to Sharps - don't know if I know about that one. Where is it?

In the Brookside shopping center, at 63rd and Brookside (or thereabouts).

    2. I've heard that Napoleon is on a permanent vacation -- don't know if that's a confirmed rumor.

the sign said they'd be out for a while, but they gave a definite return date i think.
