As a fan of new york style chinese food I was wondering if anyone knows where to go...I've been in Los Angeles for years and just can't seem to find a restaurant on the westside that is good....Any suggestions??? Mr. Chow was ok!

    "Mr. Chow was ok!"

You have a very, very low threshold for what's edible.

A lot of people feel that Uncle Chen on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks is very "New York" style Chinese Food ... and they DO have the crunchy noodles at least.

do a search for this topic...many threads on this topic, but bottom line you won't find NY style Chinese food in LA.

The best example we have is Genghis Cohen on Fairfax just north of Melrose.

Ironically, there's a place on Wilshire a block or two east of Bundy called California something or other that serves food that reminds me of NY Chinese. Which is to say, heavily sauced and not very good...

Unfortunately, I can't recall if they have the NY-style thick-skinned eggroll.

It's called California Wok. They have the crunchy noodles, they have the disinterested attitude about service (for takeout at least) and it might have a NY vibe, come to think of it.
