As a result of the recent good reviews by posters on this forum we made the short drive to dbar for dinner Saturday night. Free and easy parking gives this outing a pleasant start. The dining room has a comfortable feel with dark raised paneling and black leather (vinyl) seating. The lighting is soft and interesting. Inviting bar runs along the length of the back of the room, with high-tops at the far end of the dining room. There is also comfortable patio seating. There are a lot of small duces and a couple of booths. Duces seem a little tight for dining, but everyone seems to make do. The waitstaff was helpful and fairly attentive. The chef made a couple of appearances in the dining room to schmooz and check on things.

Bar service was right on. Wine by the glass (fair selection) was priced norminally, but I thought some of their bottles were priced rather high (example: Mark West Pinot Noir, $38.00). Ordered gazpacho (a special) which was light and refreshing. Pan seared scallops with risotto and asparagas was a good as any I've had recently. My wife ordered chicken under a brick with mashed potatos and asparagas which more than satisfied. Desert was something chocolate with strawberries and ice cream. Perfect ending! These folks are paying attention to detail. Oh, the crusty bread and three dipping oils to start was a nice touch. We heard raves from the adjoining tables for the burgers and other menu items. Food prices are not downtown.

Go! We will again, real soon.

Enjoy,
CocoDan

Great report! I enjoyed the scallops at dBar when I was there last week as well. I'm thinking that I'll try the brunch next. I notice they have eggs benedict and lobster omelette on their menu and I was thinking that maybe I could get them to make lobster eggs benedict. Never hurts to ask I guess. Has anyone had any experience with their brunch?

How am I not surprised that you want a lobster eggs benedict? LOL :-)

I was hanging out at the bar at dbar after eating at shanti last week and the cocktails were excellent, as always. But the guy next to me ordered the scallops and I practically needed a restraining order not to knock him to the floor and hoover them up. They looked and smelled fantastic.

I make my own sangria almost every weekend, having come upon some VERY cheap but passable red wine at Supreme.

I had two regular martinis which were done very well. The only wish I have is that they get their hands on some more interesting, boutiquie gins. They have a shitload of difft. vodkas but not that many gins.

They did have a cucumber-infused gin, but then they added lemon to it, which made it less interesting to me.

I imagine you are a vodka martini woman whereas, I, not surprisingly, pref gin. ROTFLMAO

But I WILL try the espresso martini on your suggestion on my next trip!

Based on this review and others we too made the short trek from C Town to DBar and glad we did...not many tables filled at 830pm Bar full. Sorry as we would have preferred bar seating . but we got a great 2 top and immensely enjoyed dinner. I started with pomegranite martini...not too sweet just enuf fruit. DH had glass of something white. Then 1 ) me : melon and ham melange ( with almonds and figs) yummy and DH: the Crab thingy that he said was very very good. Next 1) me: hanger steak to die for...great texture , done perfectly MR with mashed ( very light ) and a succotash like corn with bacon and ? peppers DH: the pork with mashed and grilled peaches. With this we ordered a Justin Cab that matched perfectly .Dessert : shared Chevre cheesecake which came in a small bowl with fresh cherries...all for $140 + change. Great service and nice atmosphere..will be back ( often )
