Here in Boston, we've had some great crawls - I was so happy to respond to an open invitation via the Board. (I realize that might alert the restaurant and alter service...but I think it's the great CH spirit to make it available to anyone via the boards - Is that a dilemma or is there any easy solution?)

Today I wanted to sponsor one - and wasn't quite sure how to do it. Suggestions? Thanks!

You can make an announcement on your local board, but then make sure all follow-up is done via PM. The announcement can be as detailed as you like, or save some of the info -especially if you haven't decided crucial details yet - for when folks respond via e-mail. Does that answer your question?

Please do post an announcement thread. You can post two, if necessary, one to gauge interest in a general idea, and one to announce final plans. If you've already got a place and time in mind, you can skip to the second one.

Include a way for people to contact you off the boards in your request, as we don't allow RSVP and planning discussions on the boards for a variety of reasons. An email address is usually your best bet, but it will get spam, so you might want to use Gmail or Yahoo rather than your main address. Flag the post when you make it, and ask the moderators to sticky it to the top of your local board. Once the event has happened, send us a quick email at moderators@chowhound.com and we'll remove your announcement.
