Italian in the village?

Would love suggestions for inexpensive italian in the village. Thanks!

  1. In the East Village (alphabet city) there is Max (Ave B, between 4th and 5th) and well as Bianca (Bleeker off of Bowery) both are delicious and cheap, with pasta dishes running from 9 to 14 dollars. The portions are large at both, and you can get a bottle of wine for around 25.

    1. I've recently started ordering delivery from Tanti Baci (10th street & 7th Ave). I find it to be incredibly tasty and reasonably priced. I have ever eaten in the restaurant, and I find the people on the phone who take my order to be incredibly rude. But for price/taste, it's worth it.

      1. I loved Villa mosconi on Mcdougall. It is an old style Italian restaurant and the food is excellent. The waiters are really nice and don't look down on you contrary to many restaurants in NY!

        1. I like Oreste on Carmine. Fairly priced and lots of good options. The pistachio encrusted salmon is good and they do a payard of chicken with a chopped salad on it and balsamic that was great for summer fare.

Not sure which village you are looking for, but Malatesta in the West Village is a personal favorite. The prices are excellent, there is great outdoor dining, and the homemade pastas are fresh and plentiful.
