Does anyone know where I can purchase these delicious dogs to prepare at home? Thanks.

    Aren't they one pound pearls?

Haha, were you watching Phantom Gourmet today? It's probably PG's best episode ever

I was getting ready to turn it off since it took more than half of the show to mention Speed's.

But they did hit almost every great hot dog place, and called Speed's maybe the best hot dog in America.

Speeds was also Top Dog winner in the Sunday Globe's Magazine this Sunday (no link from their website, for some reason). Beat out The Butcher Shop, Om, and Peti Robert Bistro. Interesting mix of hot dog choices, IMO.

PRB has a hot dog?! I've never heard/noticed this, and I've eaten there at least half a dozen times.

Lunch only; it's something called a "burger dog" that looks like it comes on their baguette. That's all I got...

Where is Speeds?? I'm a huge hot dog fan. (I once went to the Stop and Shop in Brookline to buy Pearls when I spent the weekend in Boston--can't find them in RI.)

I have seen the regular pearl hot dogs in Market Basket, but I can't find the 1/4 pounders.

Pearl hot dogs, especially the 1/4 lb, are hard to find...but usually market basket, johnnie's, and mckinnons has the 1lbs...if you ask the deli counter guy enough he might get some for you :)

Mckinnon's had them last weekend and I am pretty sure they are half pounders.

Russo's sells them in the deli.

So now I'm curious: is there a consensus on the size dog Speed is using? Is it 1-pound or 1/2-pound? I enjoyed my first trip to Speed's last week, and it's clearly enormous (as well as absolutely, amazingly delicious), but now I'm wondering *how* enormous...

                  It's a half pound. I misspoke above.

I thought the brand name was Shofar.

Shofar?! Oh, lord no! Those are the awful dogs my mom used to boil for me.

Roxy's Market in Quincy sells the 1/4 pounders in the 5lb package for $18.95
