brooklyn family-style take-out recs?

  • 8

We are looking for a kosher restaurant that has decent family style take-out food. We are not looking for specific cuisine, but something generic would likely work best. Italian perhaps.
Area preferred is 10 minutes from kings highway.

thanks so much!

  1. A lot of people I know like the Mill Basin Kosher restaurant/deli.I thought the food was very good, and Ias a rule, I am not a big fan of most Kosher or Kosher style food.
I'm not sure how far it is from KH and whether or not you're talking about a 10 min walk or a drive

miesners has the best jewish take out food in Brooklyn

Mrmoose is right. miesners is very good. FYI order a fried chicken skin sandwhich with sauerkraut.

However, Tuv Tam at Ave M and Nostrand, takes the prize for fried broccoli and cauliflower.

    2. For pure takeout you cannot go wrong with Gourmet on J on Avenue J. For something a bit different eat at Big Fleishig on 16th and 55th in BP. Great great food. You can eat in or take out, and for a brooklynjew 10 minutes to Kings Hwy. should be no problem.

The owner of Big Fleishigs has a great sense of humor. When they first opened they were called McFleishigs. They recieved a cease and desist order from McDonalds. So they changed their name and taped the order to the wall for everyone to see.

They also were one of the first brooklyn restaurants to actively advertise the curbside pick up.

If we're going to Borough Park take-aways, I like the place on 16th Ave next door to Stolin (between 46 & 47? Somewhere there).

Also Nesher on 13th Av and 41st has great food.

I'm not sure if it's still there but "Deli on 52" (located at 13 av and 52 st) has the best chulent and hottest mishmar scene.

Anyone go there on a thursday night?
