We're looking for a cool bar to head to around 7:00 P.M. - hey, we do have work the next day - for some celebratory drinks. We'd like someplace in the Hollywood/Silver Lake/Downtown vicinity with a cool vibe, laid-back but not drowsy, and with good drinks. Unfortunately, with its being a holiday, it seems some of our first choices are going to be closed. Looking at The Edison's website, it appears it's not even open on Mondays. I was at Seven Grand last night and spoke to the manager; the bar will be open Saturday and Sunday, but not that Monday. (I would assume, then, the same holds true for the Golden Gopher and Broadway Bar.) Also, we're looking for more lounge, less dive. I have a hunch that, say, the White Horse or Short Stop might be open, and while those are a good time in their way, I don't know if they're really suited to the guest of honor.
