Alinea wine pairings?

Vinny Barbaresco Aug 18, 2007 01:58 PM

We recently secured a reservation at Alinea. Has anbody been recently and done the either 12 course menu or 24 course tour with the wine pairings? If so, what were some of the wines? How many wines were served? How well did the pairings work with the menu?

Thanks in advance.

Did the tour about a year ago and went with the wine pairings. About halfway through the dinner(the 2 1/2 hr. mark) we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our wine pairings. We did that and were rewarded with some outstanding wines. I can't remember a single one however. As for the number of different wines, maybe a dozen? Your never left without a wine to drink so does it really matter how many? The pours are small but they will certainly give you more if you like one. Just ask. We thought that the pairings worked well. Keep in mind that the upgraded wine pairing cost almost as much as dinner. It was worth it.

We did the tour about 2 months ago and did the pairings but not the upgraded pairings. Very very italian focused at that time. I'll see if I can dig up our wine list for you and let you know what was on it. It was maybe not the best set of wines I've ever had in my life, but functioning as pairings it was one of the top sets of pairings I've ever had.
