You need to check with Popeye's in November-you can call, pick it up at the drive thru and be done. If you order more than one, they freeze great! They are only available in November from them. All the QVC fried and roasted turkey products are great and they are more expensive and smaller!

Don't know if it is any of those links, but Mama Ruth's Place in Vallejo has it. Haven't tried it though.

One more resource - Michael Minna's Arcadia in San Jose is serving duck fat fried organic turkey. Here's the menu in pdf format

My mind sort of boggles over that one. How many ducks would one need for all that fat to fry one turkey? Is this a variation of the turduken idea ... turdukfat?

Duck fat is a by-product. It's easily purchased in bulk. One doesn't need to render it from scratch, but you can get about a cup or so from each duck depending on variety.

Yat's in SF makes the best fried turkeys. They are amazingly seasoned. They also make pies and great Southern-style sides.
