Bronx Eateries (Norwood-ish)
Does anyone know of any good places to eat in the Norwood area or beyond? Good food? Cheap good food? Fun place for food and/or drinks?
I'm just trying to see if anybody knows of anything that I can go seek out that I might not be seeing.
That's near Montefiore hospital, right?
If so, well, I had a decent sandwich at Subway on Jerome Ave today...options for non-greasy are that bleak. styrofoam lettuce, but happy pickles and squeaky black olives. While I'm on desparate-for-tasty-lunch recommendations, the spinach pie at the North Central Hospital diner is actually pretty tasty (everything else there is lackluster diner fare).
La Nacional Bakery, on Jerome near Gun Hill, has great cafe con leche, whole milk only. My friend is a fan of their guava cheese pastries, but I'm not so much. The produce place right next door has surprisingly fresh produce, with fantastic fresh cucumbers.
I love the hot pepper selection at Los 3 Hermanos: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/447271
Just a tad south, on Jerome, a block south of the #4 Kingsbridge stop, is World of Seafood...awesome pho, great chicken soup, so-so banh mi, didn't love their curry chicken soup. I haven't ventured past that, but they have lots of seafood options. Some recent threads: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/404181 http://www.chowhound.com/topics/423435
There's a great Thai/Vietnamese grocery across the street as well. This Mexican place, around the corner, is good as well: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/428886
