OZAWA Canada....Japanese Products etc

In my quest for Japanese Green Tea Ice Cream I have now found another place to try(have tried HIME brand but was not satisfied). Spoke with this company this morning and they are open to the public, they carry all manner of things Japanese (food, china etc.) for me the only problem is the location since I am in the Annex and they are in the Richmond Hill area at 135 E. Beaver Creek Drive. I will try it in a week or so but thought anyone who lives /works in R.H. might have a look and report back if it looks like a 'find'...(their website is being updated and not available until September 1/07.

Yes. I agree. The best Japanese Ice Cream I've tried so far in Canada are those of Ozawa Canada. It's a must try product indeed.

I have been to Ozawa a number of times and it really depends on what you are looking for. They had alot of Japanese housewares including china and laqured dishes. In the back they sell Japanese food items. There isn't a huge variety of items but it covers the basics - green tea, shoyu, nori, wasabi, rice, miso, pickles. They tend to have better prices then JTown on the few things that they carry. They also have a freezer that has the ice cream that you are looking for, as well as frozen fish. In adiditon they sell Japanese take-away containers, rice cookers and other food based electronics. Basically they have a little bit of everything so if you are curious and willing to make the drive I am sure you will find more then enough to make it worth the trip.

Keep in mind that many of the bigger Korean stores(e.g., PAT) carry overlapping inventory at lower prices--and also happen to be closer, too!

Thanks Kagemusha, I will keep it in mind but I am still on the quest for the Green Tea ice cream and was told at the restaurant I frequently eat at (Sasaya) that their ice cream comes from OZAWA...now, there was a bit of a language barrier but when I asked if it was "Hime" Brand she said no and printed out the name "Ozawa"...so I will still think about going up to Richmond Hill.

a store in j-town also sells homemade matcha ice cream, they also had mango. A small pint was $3.

I haven't tried the ice cream at ozawa yet.

You should also try the black sesame ice cream at J-TOWN. Very interesting, creamy, and refreshing!

You can also order Sake and Plum wine that are not available through LCBO from them. They still import through LCBO though.

Just go since it's hardly a "find." Great stuff, lousy location. Such is life
