Matin de Paris is a nice Korean bakery, with nice girls working there. Their cakes are very nice looking. They usually get some ooohs and aaahs when I bring them to dinner.

Maybe I got confused...maybe the one my hairdresser was telling me about was Korean. We were discussing Vietnamese restaurants in the same coversation. :)

You are surely thinking of Matin de Paris, on Little River Turnpike in the heart of "Koreatown."

Matin de Paris is great! Their cakes and breads are consistently good!

My hairdresser was telling me about a really good Vietnamese bakery in Annandale but I can't remember the name of it. Maybe someone else on the board will know.

If the DC part isn't a strict requirement, here are some options.

Shilla is Korean. Maria's is Chinese. I think all of the Maria's locations use a central baking location.

MattM is unfortunately very right. There are no Asian Bakeries in DC proper and all of the asian bakeries are either in the VA or MD suburbs.
Btw, Shilla is my favorite. I don't know the correct name for this treat, but I love the pastry that looks like walnuts and are filled with a sweet walnut puree and a walnut.
