Fishing Cape Cod; Do Any Restaurants Prepare Your Catch?

The family is going to Cape Cod last week of August. Thought the kids would enjoy one of those group fishing boats (not private charter). The usual catch is fluke, bluefish, maybe stripers. It would be great to be able to have our catch for dinner, but we're staying in a motel (most likely lower Cape). Are any places set up to prepare your catch? I guess the only alternative is to find a local park with a barbecue rig and pan fry.

  1. I would recommend trying a small restaurant, either late lunch or early dinner. Chef owned would be a plus.
FWIW I used to go to Veterans Administration park in Hyannis next to the Kenedy Memorial and they had barbecue rigs. It's been a dozen or more years.
And, if you are on one of those party boats, blues and striper are rare, expect porgies and maybe balck sea bass

The BBQ rigs are still there, so that's a good thought. Honestly, I'd think one would be hard-pressed to find a restauarant willing to cook up one's own fish, especially in the peak of the season, but maybe, as you say, at a fringe time and you have cute kids and a persuasive Many hotels have grills available and most charter boats will clean and filet for a few bucks per fish tip.

Any crabs left in the stream? We used bring home buckets full.

Haven't gone crabbing myself in years, but I do see people doing it so I assume catches are still happening. A good spot used to be on the south side of Rte. 6 at Bass River in So.Dennis. There's an old rest area there to park.

sadly, not a lot of places down the cape or around Boston do this. maybe a couple in RI.

it's weird because everywhere i've fished around the rest of the country there are alwats a few places known for this. even down in easthapton NY and montauk there are tons of places.

Black dog down the vineyard will do it and probably some of the other smaller places there as fishing culture is strong but nothing on the cape.

maybe i'm just out of the loop.

we've had our bass done at the yardarm in orleans but a friend is close to the owners.

    2. Siena in Mashpee will cook your fish. They have a big article about it next to the front door.
