Centro Paninoteca menu updates
I stopped at CP for dinner last night, and Chris, the owner, showed me the slightly expanded menu. He's going to roll it out once the new menus are printed. In addition to a new, non-cursive font (MUCH easier to read in the dim lighting), he's added a few new sandwich options, some new appetizers, and since his expresso machine finally cleared customs, some basics from that. The prosciutto-wrapped chicken and roast beef sandwiches that were the daily specials whenever I stopped in are now permanent items. Among the appetizers, he added a buffalo mozzarella ball wrapped in prosciutto. A rosemary bread salad (I believe that is what it was) is on there too.
I've had the chicken sandwich and it was excellent. My favorite is still the Italian Press, though. One of the other people there last night had the mozzarella ball and loved it.
He's waiting on the final stamp of approval from the city to start work on the new patio. He's also trying to figure out how/if he wants to do a lunch service. I'm all for that, but he explained some of the logistical issues involved, so he's really torn at this point. I'm hoping he does figure out how to do lunch, but I'll be happy to head there for dinner.
I was in there last night, too, (around 7:00 - 7:30) for a beer and a sandwich to go. I had the roast beef and it was excellent. I've enjoyed the chicken and the Italian press and both are great, as well. I really like Centro a lot. There's something about a little independant place with an owner so excited and involved. They seem to be doing well, and Chris was telling me how a lot of the well known chefs in the area are stopping in late night to drink his good bottles of wine. I hope to be a regular.
