Sunday Brunch in Toronto

CChan126 Aug 15, 2007 06:17 AM

hi, can people recommend a great, casual brunch spot in Toronto for 15-20 people? We're looking for something other than a hotel buffet.

I haven't been to their brunch, but have heard that Globe Bistro has a good one. (not a buffet brunch)

Allen's might work- presuming that you don't all need to sit at one table.

Has Allen's started serving edible food?

Brassaii could definitely work, presuming that by casual you mean attire vs. ten 5 year olds running around the place. Although, it was so quiet inside the place last Saturday afternoon that I don't think anyone would even have minded the latter. :)

I second Brassaii - great menu, not too crowded, nice patio and a beautiful space inside if it's too hot or too cold to sit outside.

Beerbistro started a Sunday brunch a couple of weeks ago that could easily handle your crowd. Just like their lunch and dinner food, the breakfest is fantastic.

Does location matter? East, west, downtown?

Because of several very positive reviews on this board of its brunch, Barrio in Leslieville has been on my list of brunch places to visit, but I haven't been yet. The food sounds good but not sure if the place is suitable to accommodate a large group, perhaps others might advise.

I've been to Barrio and I wouldn't recommend it for a large group. I think Beerbistro is a good option.

my favorite is Toast on Queen, 993 queen east. They don't usually take reservations but likely will accommdate a party that large.

Googs RE: bennytoronto Aug 15, 2007 11:21 AM

Toast is great as long as you have all day to have brunch. Incredibly slow service. 15-20 people would pret-ty much take up the whole front room.

Add another vote for Brassai for their baskets of goodies. They could set-up a communal table for a party this large as well.
